In-use Test:
The VARTA Indestructible Powerpack 6000 is an External Power Bank that enables you to recharge any mobile device when you do not have access to a electrical power outlet - like the hillside or a campsite.
It has two USB outlet Ports so you can charge two devices simultaneously plus one micro USB input port to recharge the power bank itself. These ports are covered by a tight fitting flip-off flap so they remain waterproof and dust-proof and suitable for use in the great outdoors.
You can recharge iPhones, iPods, iPads, Android Phones and Tablets, Windows Phones and Tablets and virtually anything that you normally recharge using a USB port. It will even bring life back to a GPS with flat batteries.
In our tests it charged an iPhone 4 from completely flat to 100% in about 90mins. It had enough power to do this 4 times and once flat, the charger itself can be fully charged in about an hour.
The main case is reinforced to protect it from accidental droppage and it comes with a carry case and a USB to Micro USB cable 1m in length.
Most of us at one time or another have found ourselves out in the hills with a flat phone battery. And if that happens in an emergency - then you really are in trouble. At 237g, the VARTA Indestructible Powerpack 6000 is quite heavy to carry in your backpack - but could be a potential life saver. It now takes a permanent place as part of my must-have kit.
