In-use Test:

Vango's 24 LED lantern feels well-made and sturdy plus its one-setting light gives out good, bright (albeit somewhat stark) illumination. There's a push on-off button that has a half-way point for use with the remote control.

There are obvious advantages to its re-charging options - particularly the ability to re-charge it in the car 'en-route'. However - the downside is that it will only run with its own battery so you do need to be able to re-charge this - otherwise you're in the dark! We found that the claimed usage/re-charge times were about what we experienced.

It comes complete with a hanging hook so can be used to maximum effect in a tent.

The remote control was quite impressive. It needs 'line-of-sight' but with that works over about 5-6 metres - more than adequate for most tents.

Buying Advice:

Assuming you can take advantage of the re-charge features, Vango's 24 LED lantern will certainly add to the comfort of your camping trip .. and is a great stand-by for home use as well.
