In-use Test:

I've been trying out STKs rechargeable iphone 4 case for a few weeks now.

I've found that I can charge both my iphone and STK's case at the same time via a computer, mains (via 3-pin plug adapter) or the cigarette lighter in my car (via an adapter).

I thought the lanyard was a little awkward to fit so I probably won't be taking it off for now! There's only enough loop for use around a wrist - it's not possible to hang it around your neck.

The case seems to takes about 2-3 hours to charge fully from empty. On average I found that it's increased the battery life of my iPhone by about 70% - which I think might be crucial in emergencies or when using navigation apps because in my experience these apps drain the iPhone battery very quickly.

Specifically the manufacturer claims that fully charged the Power Case will provide up to 7 hours xtra talk time, 265 hours extra standby time. We found that it gives ca 210 hours extra standby time, 9.5 hours extra talk time on 2G and 4.5 hours extra talk time on 3G.

Opening the Power Case to insert/remove the iPhone is really easy as is accessing all the phone's buttons/camera when it's in the case.

The iPhone body is protected on sides and back - but not the front - I think it could perhaps do with a flap or a lid of some type. The 'vibration' still works ok when the phone's in the case - there isn't any annoying rattling.

Buying Advice:

STK's phone case for the iPhone 4 adds about 60gms in weight - which I don't think is that much. However - the additional talk time provided could be crucial so overall if you have an iPhone4 that accompanies you on long walking trips - this is definitely worthwhile considering.
