In-use Test:
The pump spray pack, which we had, was good in that it made application to those hard-to-reach spots relatively straight forward. We (two of us) have tried it, one with a muscle strain (causing a non-specific lower back pain) and the other for a sciatica-like condition.
After application, the area feels very cold; there is also quite a noticeable menthol smell. The Biofreeze did seem to be quite effective with the muscular problem- providing some relief for a few hours. However - and probably not surprisingly - it didn't really do anything for the referred pain from sciatica.
Our not very scientific short trial did suggest that - for some people and for some conditions - Biofreeze will be helpful. So for some it may help in providing enough relief to finish the day's walking if one is stricken half way round. However - it's clearly not a cure and you'd always be well advised to seek advise from a medical professional. The (one!) active ingredient is probably easily available in other products but it's fair to say that this formulation and packaging option was easy, quick and relatively pleasant to use, all of which may be worth the additional price!

• I have tried this spray, in the past and to be honest, it's not worth, the money it costs. However, the Biofreeze gel is absolutely brilliant for muscle strain injuries, giving almost instant relief. It works even faster if you are able to warm up the injured area. in the shower, before applying the gel. My late wife sustained a shoulder injury in an archery competition. and within 10 minutes she was able to continue and win gold. Biofreeze gel, is a must for you backpack's 1st aid kit.
