Hot Rox says:"HotRox Hand Warmers are a brand new way of keeping your hands (and other parts of your body) warm. HotRox reusable hand warmers are recharged by plugging them into the wall or a computers USB port. HotRox hand warmers are simple, safe and easy to use. You turn them on, you turn them off! and they can be reused over and over again. What more could you want? No Boiling, No Burning, No Fiddle, No Fuss!!!"

Features to Note:

In-use Test:

HotRox Hand Warmers are plastic, palm-sized, pebble shaped, rechargeable heaters designed to fit snugly in your hand and to gently warm it. You charge it up by either plugging it into the USB port on your computer, into the mains via an USB adaptor or via your car's cigarette lighter socket using an USB Car Charger. Once fully charged (it takes about 3 hours via the mains and 5 hours via the computer or car lighter socket) you can select from two heat settings (Medium or High) to gently warm your hands. Once warmed, you can then turn the HotRox Hand Warmer off and turn it back on later when your hands have chilled. On the Medium setting a full charge will give about 5.5 hours 'heat' and about 2.5 hours at the High setting.

I tried a HotRox Hand Warmer out on a very cold and windy trip into the Dark Peak area of the Peak District just before Christmas 2014. When stopping for lunch behind a wall to get out of the wind I invariably had to remove my gloves in order to get at my turkey sandwiches, well-earned! chocolate bar and flask of hot coffee. With my hands suitably chilled I switched on the HotRox Hand Warmer and could feel it start to heat up straight-away. Once fully warmed, I found it worked best if I thrust my hand into my pocket out of the wind, or back into my glove (with the hand warmer in my palm) as quite a lot of heat was lost to the atmosphere otherwise (it was really very cold up there). Once warmed, I transferred the Hot Rox to my other hand. After warming both hands I turned it off. When I tried it again later that day it quickly warmed up again without complaint. About three weeks later I tried it again without any recharging, I discovered it quickly warmed up and still had loads of charge in it.

The is no question that this is an excellent product that is perfect for anyone who suffers from cold hands when out in the hills and mountains. It is well-designed, nice to hold, works extremely well with no fuss or hassle. I've tried a number of other hand warmers - ones that work on burning lighter fuel that you have to ignite with a match (good luck in a strong wind with that one!) or ones that contain crystals that warm by a chemical reaction and then need 'resetting' via boiling water - but none are a patch on the HotRox Hand Warmer.

Buying Advice:

Lightweight, flexible and fuss free - the HotRox Hand Warmer is the perfect addition to your rucksack to ensure cold hands are quickly warmed. Simply turn it on, warm your hands and turn it off again ready for the next time. Just make sure you get two - so you can warm both hands at once!
