In-use Test:
Timberland's Radler is a very light-weight, 'pump' like shoe designed originally for use on a boat. The fit is true to size and - once on - they are very comfortable; in fact they are almost like a heavy-duty slipper. That having been said - there is nothing in the way of lateral support at all and my feet did move around a little inside them as I walked around.
Perhaps not surprisingly given their original use, the sole design does provide really good grip on slippy, wet surfaces. I tried this out in a wet shower room but could definitely envisage using them outdoors to slip on quickly just to cross over a stream. They dry very quickly and each shoe has a handy loop for easy attachment to a backpack.
The other feature that's distinctive about the Radler's is that each shoe zips up so that it's half its normal size. This is intended to be a space-saving feature for travel. However I'd be concerned that frequent/long-term storage like this might damage the shoe. Perhaps the ability to zip the two shoes together might have been a better option?
Although I wouldn't contemplate walking any great distance in them, Timberland's Radler zip-up shoes are a great option for pottering around the campsite. Also really handy if you're backpacking and need a separate pair of shoes for relaxing in the evening.
