In-use Test:
When I hear the name Snugpak, I usually think sleeping bags but the Yorkshire based company has recently introduced gloves into their outdoor clothing line. Like many, my hands are very susceptible to cold - so I was very interested in trying out Snugpak's Geothermal winter glove.
The Geothermal is a good length glove that extends well over your wrist whilst still just fitting underneath your jacket sleeve. The generous length plus adjustable wrist and cuff mean that these gloves provide very good overall protection for your wrists.
The inner, thermal layer is very soft to the touch and kept my hands comfortably warm during my testing when the temperature was about 4-5 degrees C with light showers. .
The gloves also boast a Hydro-tex® breathable and waterproof membrane sandwiched between the insulation and the outer shell. This was effective in that the gloves were certainly waterproof. However, over time my hands did feel somewhat clammy - to be fair this is usually my experience with waterproof gloves.
There's some renforcement on the fingers and palm plus a really useful loop (and carabiner supplied) to attach the gloves together and to your backpack when not in use. The outer fabric also provides a soft nose-wipe surface .....
Slightly pre-curved, these are really comfortable gloves to wear. The main problem I had, though, is that whilst I could adjust my backpack hip belt and open open my jacket, manipulating my gps / digital camera or adjusting the lacing on my boots was well nigh impossible without taking them off.
Because you may need to take them off quite frequently (to set a gps or open a back pack) these may be not the best gloves for extremely cold conditions. However, Snugpak's Geothermal winter gloves are a good value option for walking in moderately cold, wet weather.

• I am 6ft 4inches with very big hands. I found a pair of these gloves in extra large size which is usually difficult to find. I have found them a very good fit, both comfortable and warm. I would recommend them to anyone.
