Wayfayrer has helped Hinkes to stay motivated whilst climbing Kanchenjunga with the reward of a delicious meal and dessert at the end of every gruelling day. Wayfayrer Foods, based in North Yorkshire, has always been the Yorkshire man's first choice when hitting the mountains.
On a previous expedition Hinkes received a specially made Wayfayrer Christmas dinner so he did not miss out on tasty turkey on Christmas day. Hinkes took over 60 packs of Wayfayrer meals including a selection of breakfast, main meals and desserts.
The final peak defeated by Hinkes was Kanchenjunga in Nepal, the third highest mountain in the world at 8,586m. Proving to be far from a simple expedition, Hinkes suffered an enduring wait at base camp for the weather conditions to subside followed by an unsuccessful summit attempt, however he did it! Hinkes battled though hazardous weather conditions and summited around 7pm on 30th May 2005.
Wayfayrer are proud to have fuelled Hinkes amazing achievement and congratulate him on being the 1st Briton to complete ‘Challenge 8000'!
The Wayfayrer meals range from SRP £2.50 for sweet meals to £3.50 for savoury meals and £5.00 for Hot Food Kits.
