Silva Award
Silva, the leading supplier of precision navigation instruments, has won the “Best Compass” category for its popular Expedition 4 compass in Walk magazine readers awards, as voted for by the readers of Walk magazine, the official magazine of the Ramblers Association.
On the 20th March Silva was presented with its award by Janet Street-Porter Vice President of the Ramblers Association at the Outdoors Show at the NEC, Birmingham. 143,000 members of the Ramblers' Association voted on their favourite Compass, establishing Silva as the number one brand. The award marks a significant achievement for Silva, best known for its range of quality compasses, headlamps and GPS units.
In the same month Silva has won the “Best Outdoor Accessory of the Year” category for its highly successful Pedometer Plus product, at the prestigious Outdoor Industry Awards ceremony in Windermere. The annual awards are organised by the Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) and products voted for by the outdoor retail trade. Silva beat stiff opposition from other nominated outdoor brands such as Leki and Therm-a-rest which also made it through to the final.
Silva's Managing Director, Tony Kent was ecstatic about the company's recent success and commented, “Silva has made significant progress in the last year, these independent awards are true recognition of the outstanding quality of our outdoor products.”
