New to the UK outdoor market is a function packed hand-held GPS from US electronics specialist, Lowrance. Distributed in the UK by Silva, the Lowrance iFinder GO sets a new standard in quality as well as pricing.

When compared against other entry-level units, the iFinder GO offers a 16 parallel channel GPS receiver, against the conventional 12 channels and over 48 hours of operation on 2 AA batteries, compared to less than 24 hours on similar models.

The five-centimetre, 200 x 140 pixel, backlit screen displays information in 16 levels of greyscale, giving excellent, crisp definition. The simple keypad provides access to a powerful processing capability that will store up to 1,000 waypoints and 100 routes.

The Navigation Page (pictured right), features a compass to show direction of travel together with the direction to the next waypoint, plus a trail line and other valuable information including distance to waypoint, speed, travel time and distance off track. The entire unit weighs just 152 grams including batteries and is truly pocket sized at 13 cms (L) by 5.4 cms (W) by 3.2 cms (D).

Supplied exclusively in the UK and Ireland by Silva Ltd, the iFinder GO has an RRP of £89.95 including VAT. A PC data cable with cigarette power cable is additionally available at £29.95. The unit is waterproof to IPX7 and comes with a two-year guarantee.
