Take care of your waterproof with Regatta and Dri Pak
Before you put your waterproof jacket in the washing machine with your usual powder?
Think again!
Tests from the UK's number one family outdoor clothing brand, Regatta, have shown that you could be affecting the breathability of your jacket and spoiling its performance for the long term.
It was shown that the use of normal washing powders or fabric conditioners can cause a build up of detergent which affects the coating of the garment.
Regatta found that pure soap flakes are gentle enough not to cause any build up, therefore not harming the performance of the garment and also increasing its longevity. Proper care instructions are written on the care labels of all Regatta products. Further advice is also given on the Regatta website.
To help raise the awareness of using soap flakes when washing a waterproof garment, Regatta has joined forces with Dri Pak soap flakes. Look out for special packs of Dri Pak soap flakes on the shelves from September 2002.
Each pack will feature a competition, exclusive to Dri Pak, with the chance for five families to kits themselves out in Regatta clothing. (Based on a family of four, the prize, worth £500, includes waterproof jacket and overtrousers and a fleece per person.) The Dri Pak Soap flakes are widely available from Sainsburys, Waitrose, Morrisons and Wilkinsons as well as many independent grocery and hardware stores.
