Smartwool supports record breaking Munro attempt

This winter Steve Perry will be undertaking the record breaking Challenge 284, where he will attempt to conquer all the Munros mountains in Scotland in one single journey on foot. Throughout his challenge Steve will walk 1500 miles and be away from home for an estimated four months. Anatom are supporting Steve throughout his record-breaking attempt, and will be supplying him with Smartwool and Superfeet products.

The Munros are mountains scattered across Scotland that stand at 3000ft or over, there are 284 in total. Although the mountains have previously been conquered it is the first time that the climb will be taking place during the winter months and travelling solely on foot, even between each Munro.

Throughout the challenge Steve's only shelter will be a one-man tent, which he will carry with him along with any other equipment he needs to survive. Extra food supplies and new equipment will be left at specific drop off points, prior to Steve's arrival.

For the course of his challenge Steve has chosen to take advantage of Smartwool's micro fine merino wool properties and will be utilising both technical socks and Next To Skin base layers. The unique Smartwool fibres will ensure Steve is kept warm and dry at all times, with any moisture produced by the body being wicked away to ensure comfort in all conditions.

Superfeet, performance insoles, will ensure that Steve's feet are supported properly during his challenge and will reduce the risk of pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back. To ensure the insoles fit 100% correctly, Steve has already visited a Custom Fit Centre where he had Superfeet custom fit insoles professionally made.

Steve's challenge begins on December 1st where he will climb Ben More on Mull, he aims to finish his challenge 120 days later when he reaches the summit of Ben Hope in Sutherland.
