Help the Aged is calling on local people to take part in a walk
Help the Aged is calling on everyone to join its new national fundraising event, The Big Spring Walk, which takes place on the weekend of 28th and 29th April 2007.
The fundraising walk will see people across the UK organising their own walk with friends and family to raise vital funds for the Charity to help disadvantaged older people avoid the misery of poverty, isolation and neglect.
The Big Spring Walk aims to get individuals hosting their own walking event, whether it is a mile-long ramble in the countryside or a brisk walk into the city centre. Help the Aged is hoping that hundreds of people nationwide will be organising or attending a walk with friends and family, neighbours or work colleagues. Alternatively, there is the option to join one of the Help the Aged organised events which are taking place in four regions across the UK during April.
As well as being a fun day out for a worthwhile cause, walking is one of the best ways of staying fit and healthy. Help the Aged encourages people to remain active and socially engaged in later life. It is never too late to start exercising and people can age more healthily by fitting simple things into their everyday life to help keep fit, whatever their age, with walking being a great example.
All money raised from The Big Spring Walk will help the Charity to provide services, information and advice, and undertake biomedical research so that older people can stay active and independent for longer.
