Páramo unveil their collection for Spring/Summer

Having changed the face of the foul weather clothing market, Páramo Directional Clothing Systems are now intent on doing the same for warm weather gear. The 2005 Spring/Summer collection offers a complete wardrobe for the traveller and outdoor enthusiast who values lightweight and easy care garments.

With the introduction of the ‘Fuera Windproof Smock' and significant developments to the ‘Trek & Travel' range of shirts, trousers and shorts, this spring launch sees the most thorough collection of clothing for warmer temperatures to date.

Taking into account feedback from Páramo users as well as extensive gear testing, the design team has given a new breath to the needs of the discerning traveller: combining function and style with sensible prices.

TREK & TRAVEL SHIRTS

Arrive in crease-free tranquillity when you travel in Páramo Trek & Travel shirts. Featuring four new designs, these garments are as cool and comfortable as they are good looking.

With superior UV protection cutting out virtually all harmful rays (UPF* = 50+), antibacterial treatment and 40% lighter in weight, these shirts offer unique benefits to enjoy warmer temperatures either at home or abroad.

The new Ladies shirts, the Sundoro (long sleeved) and Saba (short sleeved), present a sympathetic design with lines shaped to flatter the feminine figure, secure pocketing and a straight cut hem. The new Mens shirts, the Tacana (long sleeved) and Teide (short sleeved), have two generous and secure storage pockets on the chest and a long hem with side slits.

All shirts are made with Nikwax Parameta A', a versatile fabric that improves comfort by doubling the wind resistance. Attention to detail via additional design features, such as flat seams to minimise rucksack rub over the shoulders and reduced gape from closely spaced buttons to keep out biting insects, make the short and long sleeved shirts a ‘must' item for the warmer season or hotter climes.

Nick Brown, Páramo's MD and a keen outdoor enthusiast, tested one of the new shirts extensively last summer, exploring the largest gorge in the world – in the north west of Greece. Nick comments: “The lightness of the fabric makes the shirt even more comfortable in high temperatures without compromising the functionality of the design and more practical for travelling and summer activities”.

Kathy Jarvis, a tour operator leader who regularly treks in the Andes, notes: “The shirt has been excellent –

The shirts are not only a delight to wear but, because of their rapid-drying and minimal care properties, can be washed and ready to wear again with the minimum of time and fuss.

* UPF: Ultraviolet Protection Factor it is a measure of the amount of sunburning ultraviolet protection (UVR) that penetrates through an item of clothing.

Travel & Trek Trousers

Following feedback from Páramo users, the Páramo design team set out to offer a simpler alternative to our popular technical Travel & Trek trousers. The result is straightforward legwear to keep you cool while still allowing maximum freedom of leg movement.

Careful design details - curved articulation around the knee area, two large gusseted hip pockets, a mesh lining to reduce weight and aid drying, an adjustable waist with a belt able to carry utility pouches - all make the trousers ideal for the widest range of summer activities i.e. summer hill walking and rambling, backpacking and travelling in warmer climates.

Like our much-loved Agua and Mayon trousers, the new legwear in Nikwax Parameta A' offers protection from the sun and from biting insects. They will keep you cool and comfortable as well as being easy to care for while travelling.

All our Ladies Trek trousers have a comfortable and flattering fit for the female form.
