New SteriPEN Water Purifier
SteriPEN is an Ultraviolet Light powered water purifier from the USA. No other handheld water purification system matches its speed of purification, ease of use, and effectiveness.
Rosker Ltd is pleased to announce that is has become the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for SteriPEN.
Rosker chose SteriPEN because it is a well designed competitively priced product that gives a very valuable new tool to the outdoor adventurer and traveller. It fits in very well with the rest of Rosker's brands, all of which come under the proud banner heading of “Equipment to Live For!”
Ed Volkwein, SteriPEN's president, chose Rosker because he felt we were “…a good match for our needs: knowledgeable, well organized, experienced with education type selling problems, and enthusiastic about selling SteriPEN into the market. We didn't feel we would get lost in priorities, especially compared to some of our alternatives. SteriPEN is a product with potential in many markets, from Outdoor and Travel to Marine, Military and Disaster Preparedness. No one Distributor can fill all of these, so we look for business partners that seem to know their strengths and weaknesses and can help us find ways to approach all of the opportunities through alliances, adding expertise to their own staff or directing us to other resources.”
How does SteriPEN work? It creates a safe-to-use ultraviolet light that destroys the DNA of microbes in seconds. This renders them totally harmless to humans. What is it effective against?
- Water borne viruses, such as echovirus, poliovirus & hepatitis
- Bacteria
- Giardia
- Cryptosporidium
- E. coli
- Salmonella
- Straph & Strep
- Cholera
- Typhoid
Is it easy to use?
Yes, very much so. It runs off 4 x AA batteries to power the ultraviolet light. (1) Push the button to activate SteriPEN, (2) place the lamp rod in water, (3) Stir with the lamp rod until the indicator light turns green, (4) That's'it! There's no need for pumping, no test strips, no time spent waiting for iodine to work. Alkaline batteries work fine but SteriPEN recommend nickle metal hydride rechargeables for longer trips.
Is it compact? Yes, just 7_” long x 1_”, and weighing only 105gm.
Will it last a long time? Yes, it's programmed for 5,000 applications and gives a warning after 4,900 uses so no one will be caught out. That's approximately 5 years' worth of useage.
Has it been well tested? Yes, and it meets the rigorous US EPA standards.
