Silva's New Global Partnership
Silva is off to a promising start with its new working relationship with Biosphere Expeditions, the non-profit-making organisation that runs important wildlife conservation expeditions all over the world.
Tony Kent, Managing Director of Silva, met up with the founder of Biosphere Expeditions, Dr Matthias Hammer, at the recent Go Outdoors trade show in Harrogate to formally announce the relationship and sign the contract.
Silva has become one of Biosphere Expeditions' Global Partners, providing professional equipment vital to its work. In return, Biosphere Expeditions will take Silva equipment to distant and demanding locations, testing products to the limit and providing Silva with feedback to allow the consistent high quality of its products.
Tony made an official presentation at the show of a pair of lightweight, waterproof Eterna binoculars and a renowned Multi-Navigator™ GPS unit to Dr Hammer. Also supplied to the company were the brand new M2 Headlamp, whose high-powered beam penetrates the darkest environment, and the innovative solar-powered Batterysaver Powerpak, which can run a small radio, charge AA batteries or a mobile phone in the middle of nowhere.
Biosphere Expeditions' current projects include the study of wolves in the Carpathian Mountains of Poland and snow leopards in the Altai Mountains of Central Asia. These professional conservation expeditions are run with the help of the local in-country community and ordinary individuals from across the globe who want the opportunity to help on an important issue whilst seeing the world.
Participants contribute funds to the expeditions, which go directly to the project, contributing towards the long-term goal of a sustainable biosphere for the world's wildlife. Silva is proud to help them achieve this aim and looks forward to a bright future.
