In-use Test:
So far there's not been much snow in which to try out Karrimor's Snow Boot for its primary purpose. Instead I've been wearing it in cold (ca 2 degrees C) and wet Winter conditions for shorter, low level walking.
The 4mm lugged - and stiff - outer sole does certainly provide good grip over muddy and/or moderately icy ground. The midsole is nicely supportive over rougher ground and the inner sole is well padded. There is also a good level of protection at the toe and heel. So - when you add in the thermal lining I found my feet were comfortable - and warm. The sole unit overall has a lot of longitudinal and lateral stiffness so the boot is supportive enough for some walking over rougher ground.
The lacing system is very simple - just 4 d-rings plus the top eyelet - so it's quite hard to properly adjust the laces to ensure that your feet are held properly in position. I often found that my feet were lifting a little at the heel. They are a relatively small fit - and there are no half sizes - so you may end up wearing a bigger than optimum size plus thicker socks.
Intended as boots for snow, they are cut to fit relatively high - I found this ok for reasonably short walks (3-4 miles) but is not my preference for anything longer.
They've kept out reasonably heavy rain and kept my feet dry in wet grass - but I've not yet had opportunity to put them to the test in snow.
Consider Karrimor's snow boot if you're looking primarily for a warm boot for apres-ski or general leisure wear in cold weather. You'll also be able to use them for shorter walks around forest tracks etc in colder, wetter conditions.
