In-use Test:

A relatively new arrival in the ever-growing walking shoe/boot market is this collection from Clark Sports. The Incline Hi GTX is the women's product aimed at those who want to do more than urban walking. It's built around two of Clarks's own proprietary technologies - the Active Air midsole plus the Rock outer sole - but also includes a Goretex® lining.

The result is a very flexible, lightweight and low cut boot with an attractive, contemporary look. I think the fit is true to size - I tend to need a slightly broader fit for one of my feet so I did find the one width fitting a little narrow. This probably would not be an issue if your feet are an average/narrow width. Aside from that, the Inclines were initially reasonably comfortable.

I've worn them in rain (and wind) for low level walking over grass, mud, asphalt paths - occasionally cobblestones. They certainly kept my feet warm and dry. The grip over mud and wet grass was also good. However, a major problem for me is that I don't think that the shock absorption is that great - after 5-6 miles my feet have started to feel quite uncomfortable.

Buying Advice:

The Incline Hi from Clarks are too flexible and don't offer enough protection for walking over even slightly rocky terrain. Whilst they will certainly keep your feet warm and dry for lower level, shorter walks for example along canal towpaths or in woodland, there are other shoes/boots at a similar price that I think provide better shock absorption.
