In-use Test:
Like the Wolverine Sierra Low iCS Waterproof Low-Cut Trail Walking Boot for Women, Wolverine's Terrain waterproof mid walking boot makes use of Wolverine's proprietary iCS (individual comfort system) technology.
The iCS enables you to customise the level of inner support, outer support, firmness and degree of cushioning provided by the heel section of the midsole. This is achieved via a removable insole that gives access to a disc in the heel area which you set to suit you.
I'd chosen to set the iCS to provide additional inner support in a size (US) 11 which in theory is equivalent to a UK size 10. I normally wear a UK size 10.5 but I found that the test pair fitted quite well - if anything they were slightly on the large size.
The Terrain is certainly a very comfortable, flexible, mid-cut walking boot. There's good overall support from the sole which is easily adjusted to cope with minor variations in an individual's foot anatomy. The footbed, tongue and heel cuff are also nicely padded. However, there is only minimum toe protection.
The top eyelet of the lacing system is well positioned and engages well to help in getting a comfortable fit.
The traction provided was fine over the terrain (asphalt paths, some grass & mud) on which I've worn them. My feet were warm and dry even during some moderately heavy rain.
Whilst not offering enough toe protection or ankle support for rocky paths, the Terrain from Wolverine is an attractive looking, flexible, comfortable walking boot and is a fine option for low level walking (perhaps up to Grade 3-4) along canal toe paths, asphalt paths etc when you need day-long comfort and water-proofness. Also good for more general, wet weather wear around town, but check the sizing as the fit is a little on the large size.

• I recently bought a pair of these boots in London. I am so pleased with that I want to buy a second pair. Is there any shops in Ireland where I can get that brand and if so can you send me a list of them please.
