In-use Test:
Karrimor's Meridian Mid eVent are relatively low cut walking boots with a suede-like finish.
My initial thought was that the sizing may be a little on the small size - I was happily wearing a size 11 despite the fact that my normal size is half a size smaller. From the off, however, they've been extremely comfortable. They are nicely padded throughout and - as I'd expected given they have an eVent® liner - definitely waterproof and very breathable.
With a very flexible sole, some good protection at toe and heel plus a sole that provides good traction on mud and wet grass, they have been smashing on my various Autumn yomps around the Cheshire and Staffordshire countryside. However, I was surprised to find that - when venturing on to more rocky ground - I could feel some sharper stones through the sole.
A minor gripe is that the tongue is slightly short which means that at the top, the (rather long) laces has a tendency to fasten above it.
There's a good rubber bumper all round the boot which should reduce the ongoing wear and tear.
Whilst too flexible for rocky/mountain terrain, Karrimor's Meridian Mid eVent are an extremely comfortable, 'starter' boot for canal towpath, woodland or general countryside walking - well padded throughout and excellent in wet weather!
