Peak Bagging The Lake District Central Fells

The Lake District Central Fells are enclosed by:

  • Keswick to the North
  • Derwent Water and Borrowdale to the West
  • The Langdale Valley to the South
  • Thirlmere, Grasmere and Ambleside to the East

The Central Fells is the subject of Book Three: A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells by A. Wainwright. This book has a Blue Cover and an illustration of the summit of Helm Crag on the cover.

The area includes: Rydal Water, Grasmere, Great Langdale and Thirlmere as well as the peaks of High Raise, The Langdale Pikes, Helm Crag, Ulscarf, Ashness Fell and Loughrigg Fell.

There are 35 'tops' to walk up, bag and conquer, the highest point is High Raise (Langdale) and the area includes:
