Walks in the Lake District with Children
Q. Hi,
My friends and I all have small families, with mine having the youngest child at almost 12 months.
We have all been interested in taking our children away camping and getting out into the outdoors walking over the last few years, however, we have found ourselves somewhat unprepared and have set off on long walks that the children have found difficult.
I have looked through your website and found it most enlightening, however, I wonder would you be able to assist in recommending walks within the Lake District that we would find suitable to our needs.
May I thank you for your assistance.

A. It is always difficult to recommend walks for children because only you know how far your children are capable of walking.
So take a look at our Comprehensive 9-Point Grading System which is based on length of each walk and amount of ascent (1 is the easiest, 9 is the most rigourous).
Then check out our unique interactive maps for the Lake District - OS Explorer Maps OL4, OL5, OL6 or OL7 or OS Landranger Maps 89, 90, 96 or 97
and pick out walks that match the grade you are looking for.
Why not also take a look at:
The Best Walks in the Lake District
I'm sure you'll find plenty of walks that are just perfect for you and your party.
Hope this helps
