Absurd but need help - what does the S in red stand for on the map
Q. Hi, I know this seems ridiculous but am new to using this site and these maps - what does the S in red stand for on the map? Tha ks
Susie Cabrillana,
A.

Hi Susie, the white 'S' in a red circle on our walk maps indicates the recommended start point of the walk. More often than not, there will be a place to park at this location, and there may be other facilities like toilets and/or a cafe or pub.
The recommended start point is often chosen by our walk design experts because it is the lowest point on the walk (so you do not have the daunting prospect of walking uphill back to the start when you are tired). This location is often is preceded by a short length of road walking as well to make navigation easier when you are tired and/or are returning to the start of the walk at dusk.
However, you may, for reasons of your own, wish to start at a different location around the walk, and since 99% of go4awalk.com walks are circular, you can do this too. It is entirely up to you.
Hope this helps,
