Durham edge
Q. Where is the best place to start a walk to Durham edge .
Vivienne Dales, Doncaster
A. Durham Edge (Abney Moor) is a hill in the Peak District located about 3 miles south east of Castleton and sited at the northern end of Camphill Field - home to Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club.
The summit of Durham Edge (Abney Moor) is 416m (1365ft) above mean sea level and there is an Ordnance Survey Trig Point Pillar on the top. While the ground to the east of Durham Edge (Abney Moor) is open access land, the Ordnance Survey Trig Point itself is on private land and not accessible to the public.
Most walks that climb Durham Edge (Abney Moor) start in Bradwell but you can access the hill from Great Hucklow and Little Hucklow.
For photographs and more information about Durham Edge (Abney Moor) and walks that climb the publicly accessible parts see: Durham Edge (Abney Moor).
Hope this helps . . .
