In-use Test:
The Regatta Davinia is a relatively short length, waterproof jacket.
The overall fit was good and true to size although I would have preferred a little more length in the sleeves.
I've worn the Davinia for low level walking and Nordic Walking in a lot of heavy wind and rain and I have always been comfortable. I have not yet had opportunity to wear it in warmer weather so have not really fully tested the increased breathability of the XPT X-treme performance fabric. The only options for controlling your temperature (apart from opening the front zip!) are the adjustable cuffs.
The detachable hood worked quite well - it is possible to adjust the size and it is easy to fasten (without leaving any annoying flapping fasteners). Once on, there is a quite a good level of protection for the face but this is not as good as on other jackets I've worn..
There are five pockets in total. There are two front, smallish, zipped front pockets - unfortunately these are quite tricky to get at when wearing a belted back pack. There are a further two zipped pockets inside. Lurking inside the left front edge is a zipped pocket which will take a folded OS map. To get at it, though, means opening your backpack belt and then the jacket which I did not find that convenient - particularly in the rain.
My only other gripe was that I found all the zip tags to be small and a bit fiddly to use with gloved hands. The zips themselves also did not feel that robust.
If you are looking for a dedicated walking jacket then you may be better off with something a little longer than the Regatta Davinia. However, if you are looking for a good value multi purpose jacket for some low level walking, short cycle trips and general leisure wear, then do check this out.
