Trail Bikers
Q. Hi
Living near the coastal footpath we are very concerned by the Trail Bike maniacs who tear up and down it on Sundays.
Between Maryport and Allonby is supposed to be a SSI but no-one seems to care about the damage being done by these riders, we have tried Police, local councillors, coastal protection - who else should we try.
The whole headland is fast disappearing and this lot are escalating the erosion process.
Any idea who might be interested?

A. Your County Council will have a department dealing with rights of way and countryside matters. They really ought to be interested as this is likely to be an illegal activity.
The police in Co Durham are obviously more interested in this type of thing and have caught people and prosecuted them. Your local bobbies should be interested too, since there have been some quite nasty accidents imvolving trail bikers and walkers.
You should go up the hierarchy and write to the chief inspector AND the County council - and anybody else who will listen.
