A. Hello Elaine, the very first thing I spotted on this sight ,(and this is my first visit) was your question . There are some very special places along the coast around here if you know where to go . In some ways i'm reluctant to reveal them as I like to think of them as my own special places to visit ,and I've even written some poetry about them , but enough ,you need names .You must do the short hour long walk from Iken to Snape maltings . The church at Iken stands on a small peninsular on the river Alde and is very ancient and steeped in history. I worked over there for a while and there is definitely a very particular atmosphere about the place . You should also make your way to Walberswick , and starting from the car park near the river , make your way along the path beside the river and over the bailey bridge and on to Southwold and to the pier . It's my opinion that you would get see more interesting places if you travelled by road to various starting points and did these kind of shorter walks where you really got to see the nooks and crannies . Suffolk is a very large but also very busy county ,and you need to go to specific places to see it at its best. I lived for seven years in Cardiganshire and in the black mountains ,and know the welsh countryside well .Suffolk and Wales are definitely chalk and cheese. Good luck, Phil.
