Is it scary?
Q. I am new to your site and have had a look at the Walk Grading System.
I noticed the walk up Blencathra via Sharp Edge - Walk c117 Blencathra and Knowe Crags (Blease Fell) via Sharp Edge from Scales is graded 6.
Is there any other system in place to help me know if there are any scary scrambles along a route?
Regretably I am pretty feeble when it comes to exposure (on Sharp Edge last year I was so scared that I genuinely thought I was going to die, even though conditions couldn't have been more perfect!), and I have a dog to consider now as well.
I truely wish I were braver, and hate myself for being a bit of a jellyfish, but I think I'm stuck with it. Consequently I want to avoid any really dodgy bits of mountains for the time being.

A. It's sometimes hard to be be definitive about what is or isn't a scary scramble. A scary scramble to one individual is a stimulating walk to someone else!
We do try to mention where there is a 'feature' of particular note on the walk pdf itself - but a walk graded 6 or more is going to be challenging in one way or another.
However - we have noted your comments and we'll maybe look at some other way of highlighting particularly 'airy' routes.
