Steep Hills in London

Q. Hi,

Do you have any steep hill walks close to London / on public transport where I could do a day trip?

I have signed up for a charity trek in The Himalayas in less than 2 months. I really need to do some training - steep hill walking. But it seems to be flat all around London.

Any suggestions?

A. Not sure there are any steep hills near London - but you could always try the stairmaster at your local gym.

However, despite the Himalayas comprising really high steep mountains - trekking holidays there tend to follow mountain pass routes where the gradients are more gentle (not flat - but not really steep either).

I would make sure you have a really comfortable, well worn in pair of walking boots suitable for rough and rocky terrain and work on your long distance walking stamina.
