Finding a Grid reference point using hand held GPS
Q. I need to mark the centres of several agricultural fields for locating water troughs. Never having used a hand held GPS device I am considering purchasing one. Can you input a grid reference number OR coordinates into a hand held GPS device and have it give directions?
Mike Haigh,
A. Yes a hand held GPS device would well for this kind of thing. As would a GPS app on your smart phone - and a free one at that. Before you go buying a dedicated hand held GPS device have a look round your phone's app store and try a few out.
