The summit of Whita Hill is marked by an Ordnance Survey Trig Point.
The monument on Whita Hill is a 30m (100ft) high obelisk commemorating the life of Sir John Malcolm (1769-1833), a famous soldier, diplomat and scholar who was born at nearby Burnfoot.
