Collapsible Water Dishes for Dogs

Q. Have anyone any idea where I can purchase a Collapsible Water Dish for my dog?

I have read about them but not been able to find them. My local pet shops have never heard of them - please can you help?

By the way, what a fantastic web-site, will definitely be subscribing!

Jeanette Holland, Bolton

A. I got a good one at Pets at Home. It is made by 3 peaks and had a metal clip hook attached which is brilliant if you are walking. Just clip is on to your lead or jacket.

Lisa Lisa, Grimsby

A. I cut about 3 inches (8cms) off the bottom of empty 4 pint (2 litre) milk cartons and fold it in on itself. This stuffs in my rucksack no problems and is free and easily to replace.

A. Take a small cardboard box and cut it down to the size and depth that suits your dog, and then fold in the sides (you may need to squash them a bit) so that it's nice and flat, and fits into your pack.

To use, open up the box again, lay a polythene bag (one that doesn't have ventilation holes in it) or a sheet of cling-film over the box. Pour water onto the plastic, which will bed down into the contours of the box; you will then have a nice cardboard 'dish' that is safely water-proofed by the plastic.

The same principle can be applied to making collapsible washbowls for people or plates. It doesn't even have to be a complete box - just a ring of cardboard, with the ends glued firmly together, will be adequate if placed on a firm flat surface.

Afraid I've got no ideas about how to make a collapsible dog to go with the dish.

Cheers,

Ron Linton

A. We bought a collapsible dog bowl recently from The Climbers Shop in Ambleside. An excellent bit of kit!

Debbie Hargreave, Morpeth

A. Collapsible Water Dishes? Try Jack Wolfskin, Ambleside!

Richard Rawlinson, Fleetwood

A. My Masters' mum found my folding bowl, complete with its own bottle in a local pound shop. I guess it pays to shop around. Marvelous piece of kit we never leave home without it.
