Walking The Grisedale Horseshoe with a dog
Q. Could anyone please advise me. I am hoping to take my partner walking in the Lakes. I am hoping to do the Grisdale [Grisedale] Horseshoe from Paterdale [Patterdale]. Is this walk suitable for a Golden Retriever? Particularly the decent from Helvellyn using either Swirrel [Swirral] Edge or Striding Edge
Thank you
Stephen Byatt, Ruskington
A. To walk The Grisedale Horseshoe see walk Walk route map c269 The Grisedale Horseshoe from Patterdale, The Lake District, Cumbria.
Swirral Edge is easier and less exposed than Striding Edge.
Provided you keep your dog on a lead as a courtesy to other walkers nervous about the exposed sections of the walk and pick a day when the conditions are dry and warm, you, your partner and your dog should be OK. The Grisedale Horseshoe is a fantastic walk.
Hope this helps
