Are there any Wainwright Walks I shouldn't take my dog on?
Q. Hi, not done any serious hill walking before and decided I am going to take up the challenge of doing all the Wainwrights. I have a two and a half year old chocolate lab who I intend to take with me and was wondering if there are any places where I should not be taking him. Thanks in advance,

A. Providing you keep your dog on a lead or under close control there should not be a problem. You might want to avoid Striding Edge and Swirral Edge on Helvellyn, and Sharp Edge on Blencathra or Saddleback since these knife edge ridge walks can be pretty testing without having to look after a dog as well.
Make sure you check out our Walk all 214 Wainwrights in 59 Walks feature and start filling in your Personal Mountain Bagging Record so you can keep track of your progress on line.
Walking the Wainwrights is a fantastic experience and will allow you to experience everything the Lake District has to offer - often in quiet solitude once you have bagged the busy honeypots.
Have fun (you will) and don't forget to send us some photographs
Hope this helps . . .
