Dovestone's Brooks, Greenfield Beck and Chew Brook
Q. I know that nowadays, the brook above and below Dovestones Reservoir is usually called:- "Chew Brook." (which descends from Chew Reservoir). But I feel sure that, when I was a lad, (nearly 70 years ago!), it was known, down to its confluence with the river Tame as:- "Greenfield Beck." Does anybody else remember it being called by that name, I wonder?
John Sutcliffe, Bury, Lancashire.
