Where To Camp On 3 Peaks Challenge?
Q. I am planning a National 3 Peaks Challenge with colleagues and we are planning to camp before starting Ben Nevis, and again at the Base of Snowdon (Not a 24h attempt). Can anyone recommend some really close campsites or is low wild camping the best option? We will want to ditch our tents etc in the mini bus and not walk with them! Any help much appreciated

A. Don't even think about wild camping at the bottom of Ben Nevis - the authorities will move you on. Fort William and Glen Nevis both have campsites with easy access to the Tourist Path up Ben Nevis.
For climbing Snowdon there is a campsite above Llanberis itself if you are taking the Llanberis path, and near Rydd Ddu if you fancy the Rydd Ddu path or The Snowdon Ranger Path or a more basic one in Nant Peris (which is handy for the bus up to Pen-y-pass (which btw is pronounced Pen-er-pass when you ask the bus driver for a ticket).
For tackling Scafell Pike there are two campsites in Wasdale (one very, very basic - just a field, no loos or water and The National Trust Campsite which is really good), Seatoller if you are approaching Scafell Pike from nearby Seathwaite to the north or a very good National Trust Campsite in Great Langdale if that is your preferred route.
Hope this helps . . .
