Overrun Bridleways and Walking Route Paths
Q. Hi, I wonder if you can help. We have recently moved into the area of Orange OS [Explorer] map 200. We love going out walking but each time we go, we always get lost. The walkways and bridleways are quite over run and badly signed. Who is responsible for the upkeep of these walkways? I hope you can help.
Elizabeth Jardine, Llandrindod Wells
A. Local authorities are legally responsible for maintaining public footpaths or other rights of way within their area. They will have a Rights of Way officer and it is his/her job to make sure footpaths and rights of way are kept open and properly signed. See Closed Public Footpaths in Peterborough for more information and some other comments about footpaths and Rights of Way.
Hope this helps
