Finding Entry Points to Open Access Land
Q. Is there any process for finding out where there are entry points to open access land ?
Gerard Lancaster, Stockport
A. Usually (!), where a right-of-way (footpath or bridleway) enters Open Access Land there will be a gate or stile. You will sometimes also find a notice board with a map indicating all the other entry points for that particular area of Open Access Land - though this will depend on the local authority.
There are some areas of Open Access Land that do not have entry points and are inaccessible because they are completely surrounded by private land which you are not legally entitled to cross without the land owners permission.
Hope this helps
