Ginny Tyler walked up Merrick on July 5th, 2021 [from/via/route] Bruces stone [with] Enzo [weather] Pleasant - Low cloud - Tough rocks at the start (and end) made descent awkward
Julie Holroyd climbed Merrick during June, 2002 [from/via/route] Glen trool car park - Sunny
Richard Evered bagged Merrick on October 10th, 2013 [from/via/route] Loch Trool (upper car park by the Bruce Stone) [with] Ruth, Bobby, Rooney [weather] Very mixed, warm & sunny at the car park, sleet & snow, then rain. Mild & light breeze. - No other cars in car park. Didn't see any other walkers. Staying at Gatehouse of Fleet in Rose Cottage - well recommended. Also walked 'Mountain End' at Big Water of Fleet. Big storms & powercuts the day we came home. A nice Galloway break.
Doug Martin hiked Merrick on July 1st, 2013 [from/via/route] Started from Bruce's Stone - up Whiteland Burn to Benyellary working our way across to Buchan Hill & down [with] Fellwalkers [weather] Overcast at beginning but sky cleared & sun tried to get out - lovely days walk.
Matthew Crank summited Merrick on August 28th, 2012 [from/via/route] Start at Bruce's memorial , via loch's Valley, Neldricken, Arron & Enoch & then the final climb up the redstone rig's. [with] Becky my fiancee. [weather] Pleasant until we reached the climb up Redstone Rigs where the strong wind & clouds appeared :( - Were very glad to see that white trig point ! as the walk up was through bog's & tuft grass which Becky at one point had her left leg disappear up to her thigh ! The remoteness of the ascent is incredible though - we did'nt see one other person, apart from ' the grey man of merrick ' of course ! & passing the loch's with their history , the murder hole , the 'beaches ' of loch enoch & the terrain added to the atmosphere of it all even though it was very tough going under foot. we descended via the well worn path via the Nieve of spit & Benyellary . Altogether a 9 mile & 6 hour trip. Brilliant.
Wendy Sockett and Trevor Williams have both walked, climbed & bagged Merrick.
