Gerald Murphy hiked Allt-fawr (Moelwyns) on May 5th, 2012 [from/via/route] cw115 walked from the Footpath sign at the gate near the summit of the Crimea Pass (A470). [with] alone [weather] variable - dry & warm withsunshine then cloud.Later darker, colder, cloudier with flakes of snow. Finally warm & sunny agin with light cloud. - This (very) boggy walk was a bit of a marathon. After Iwerddon (Allt Fawr), Allt Fawr itself & Moel Druman I continued to Ysgafell Wen as per cw115 but then took my first detour. I walked back via Llyn y Adar up the North Ridge of Cnicht to it's summit. The views across towards Snowdon were my reward. This first leg took me 4 hours. I then made an unintended detour - I mistook the summit of Moel Meirch for what I assumed would be Ysgafell Wen North Top. Anyway it was a pleasant diversion. I then realised that the summit was completely wrong in relation to nearby Siabod. Back to the map! I quickly found my way back on track to Ysgafell Wen North Top & Far North Top. The downhill walk from there was steep - as stated in the directions but I failed completely to find Moel Fleddiau (the ruined farmhouse) - at least, not within 1.5km of Ysgafell Wen far North Top. I did find some ruins & Moel Lledr but, when I got to the final hill, Moel Dyrnogydd I decided to walk instead, via the clear track, to Roman Bridge via Blaenau Dolwydellan. My wife picked me up at the station.

Don Cannon, Paul Booth, Trevor Williams, Martin Purves and Keith Brockwell have all walked, climbed & bagged Allt-fawr (Moelwyns).
