In-use Test:
Material: The Regatta Egret is made from a soft, comfortable fabric. Quite thin material. Good quality. Double seams. Extra material under arms. Good collar. Good wind resistance properties.
Fit: Tester: male, 5'10", stocky build. Good fit. Pullover head style with 1/4 zip to tighten collar. No cuff or waist adjusters.
Collar: High enough to shield neck from the wind. Zip goes all the way to the top of the collar. Collar (and zip) are same colour as the rest of the fleece.
Pockets: One shallow pocket on front left with zipped opening.
Zips: Front 1/4 zip tagged for easy opening. Pocket zip untagged. Zips run smoothly. Zip goes all the way to the top of the collar. Zips not too substantial.
Other considerations: Good quality fleece ideal as a mid-layer in winter - could be used as an outer layer on a spring/summer day. Thin material allows good packing down for stowage.
Technical performance of the Regatta Egret fleece is excellent. Fits well and has a good combination of features for temperature control at cuffs and waist. Superb pockets. Having said that it's too warm and heavy for summer. Needs a lightweight outer shell to give total directional waterproof protection.
