The Forest of Bowland and The South Pennines covers parts of Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and West Yorkshire and is enclosed by:
- The A590 from Morcambe Bay to The M6, the A65 and the south western edge of the The Yorkshire Dales National Park to Skipton and then the A59 to the A1(M) to the North
- The A1(M) from the junction with the A59 to Knottingley to the East
- The M62 from Knottingley to Manchester and then the M60 & M56 to The River Mersey to the South
- The Irish Sea from Liverpool to Morecambe Bay to the West
