OS Maps for Walking the West Highland Way

Q. I saw Mike's answer to the question on the maps for the entire West Highland Way in Scotland (the 7 maps). Is that still the current information (July 1, 2011).

Thank you so much . . . we'll be going in mid-September.

Eileen ,

A. If you don't want to carry that many maps and don't plan on wandering too far off the Way, I can highly recommend the West Highland Way XT40 map from Harvey Map Services Ltd. It is a single strip map with the whole of the route on it and is made from a tough polyethylene material, so is waterproof. I have walked the West Highland Way several times and this map has been the only one I have needed. I also recommend the Trailblazer guide to the West Highland Way. It has detailed hand-drawn maps of the whole route and loads of other useful information. Check it out at your local book store.

A. Since the route of The West Highland Way has not changed and the Ordnance Survey Maps required to walk the West Highland Way have not changed either, the answer to Which map is best for The West Highland Way? still contains the correct information.

So, the seven maps that detail the West Highland Way National Trail from Milngavie in East Dumbartonshire to Fort William in Highland, Scotland are:

OS Explorer 342 Glasgow

OS Explorer 347 Loch Lomond South

OS Explorer 348 The Campsie Fells

OS Explorer 364 Loch Lomond North

OS Explorer 377 Loch Etive & Glen Orchy

OS Explorer 384 Glen Coe & Glen Etive

OS Explorer 392 Ben Nevis & Fort William

To find single day walks that include part of The West Highland Way see Walks, Routes and Maps on The West Highland Way

Hope this helps . . .
