Walking The South Downs Way
Q. How many miles to do the South Downs Way starting from Eastbourne?
I am a rambler, walking for 2 years now, i [would] like to know if it is hilly terrain, or quite possible for a normal walker to do?
Taking it average at 2 miles, will it take a week or much more?
Thank you very much
Marj Toubkin, Eastbourne
A. The South Downs Way is a 162km (101 miles) linear footpath connecting Eastbourne (Holywell) in East Sussex, England with Winchester in Hampshire, England.
It is waymarked by a National Trail acorn.
For some circular day walks that include part of The South Downs Way see Walks that include The South Downs Way.
The terrain is generally rolling hillside, woodland and farmland.
Hope this helps
