Transfer Back to Osmotherly from Ravenscar after the Lyke Wake walk

Q. I am hoping to complete the Lyke Wake walk at the start of July in a party of three. We will be starting out around 20:00hrs on the friday night and hopefully arriving in Ravenscar approx 11:00hrs the following morning.

As this is our first attempt is 15hrs a realistic completion time?

As we are only taking one vehicle which we will be leaving in Osmotherly, what options do we have for our return journey back from Ravenscar?

Andrew Kaye, Huddersfield

A. An update on my earlier response. Last week I parked my car at Western end of LWW then walked to Flask Inn (pub & cafe here) then got bus to Osmotherley (3 buses: Flask to Guisboro' to Stokesley to Osmotherley) cost £12 total which took just over 3 hours but with enough time to get a snack in Guisboro' or Stokesley. Check with bus companies for most up to date timetables as some I've seen are out of date (particularly important for Stokesley -Ossie).

A. It is possible to get from the Flask Inn or Falcon Inn (both nr, Ravenscar) to Osmotherley by Bus (2 journeys). These two pubs are less than 3 miles from Beacon Howes, the western end of the walk. The first bus is to Middlesbrough then on to Ossie. Because the buses from Middlesborough to Ossie are infrequent, I would recommend parking at the finish, then walk to either of these pubs and catch the bus to start at Osmotherley. As a party of three, I would recommend the taxi option (again park at finish & taxi to start), £25 each roughly and no hanging around 15 hours should be feasible if reasonably fit and weather is OK

A. You could use a taxi from Robin Hood's Bay. It costs around £75:00. I know because I've thought about doing another solo but then I thought it was not really a good idea. Alternatively, you could do what I did with a mate when we did go solo, park a car at each end of the walk.
