2000ft Mountains in England Scotland and Wales
Q. Hi,
Do you know if anyone has walked all 2,000ft mountains in Britain, The Nuttalls, Munros, Corbetts and Grahams.
Jon Baldwin, Chertsey
A. Whilst worthy, the Munros are a slightly arbitary list since the hills on it are there by 'election' rather than their physical attributes. An update is expected soon. So you should consider the Murdos to make sure you bag all the Scottish peaks over 3000ft.
The Nuttalls aren't really a proper list since the reascent needed for qualification (just 15m) is too small to be practical. You'd be much better off collecting the Mountains in England (Hewitts) for the 2000ft summits in England and the Mountains in Wales (Hewitts) for the 2000ft summits in Wales.
For more information and details of their classifications requirements see Munros, Corbetts and Grahams
As for if anyone has climbed them all - I would think lots and lots of people have. The SMC has a list of over 3500 people have already completed all the Munros.
