For much of the year the River Manifold appears dry. In fact it runs underground from Wettonmill to Ilam taking 22 hours to cover the 4 miles.

Peak Bagging Statistics for this walk:

The highest point of this walk is Sheen Hill at 380m (1247ft). Sheen Hill is known as an English Bridget. The summit of Sheen Hill is marked by an Ordnance Survey Trig Point. Sheen Hill is on private farmland. However, the kind owners seem not to mind visitors to the summit Trig Point providing they stay away from the farmhouse.

Part of this walk follows a section of The Manifold Trail, a 37km (23 miles) linear footpath connecting Manifold Head, near Flash in Staffordshire, with Dovedale Car Park, near Ilam in Derbyshire, England.
