Answer a walking and hiking question
Got an answer to the following Walking/Hiking question?
I want to buy a GPS to confirm my location when in cloud. I always carry a map and compass. When I buy a GPS - for it to give me a grid reference of my current location - do I have to also buy mapping software for the GPS and load it on to the GPS? Will a GPS with no mapping software loaded give me my location as a grid reference? I have a comprehensive supply of Explorer maps and don't want any unnecessary expense. Or would it give location in latitude and longitude if it had no maps loaded? This may seem a strange question - but I can't find any information that answers my question! Await replies. Sheena
