Got an answer to the following Walking/Hiking question?

Ref Fully Grown Bull

I am quite new to rambling, and love it very much, especially with my dog. However, I came across a field where the footpath had to go through, which was full of cows, calves and a big bull. I was quite nervous about going through, and we had to find an alternative route due to our having the dog with us - could I have reported the farmer as there were more fields which had bulls and cows in where the footpath went?
