Meindl Burma Boot - Your Walking and Hiking Gear Views
I bought a pair of Meindl Burmas in 2004 for walking in Tibet (Shishapangma and Everest BCs). Extremely comfortable and light to wear continuously all day for a 3 to 4 week stretch, with no breaking in issues, They also work well for long distance paths and UK hills. With every previous boot I have had problems with foot pronation causing the boot to distort and thus fail, but this has not been an issue with this boot over the years with such firm ankle support. They are comfortable for walking, trekking, and also harder terrain. I have had no issues with the leather uppers or Gortex liner and the boots have been fine until recently. I suppose after 13 years I should expect wear and tear, and on my last walk in the Lakes the sole departed from the uppers at Stickle Tarn. The material between the two had powdered into dust and the boots have been sent back for re-soling. I hope to get a few seasons more wear out of this yet!
